Department of Anatomy

The Department of Anatomy at Shri Gangaram Medical College & Hospital lays the foundational stone for all medical education. As the first subject introduced in the MBBS curriculum, Anatomy is crucial in helping students understand the structure of the human body, its spatial relationships, and clinical relevance. Our department is equipped with cutting-edge facilities and a passionate teaching faculty committed to excellence in anatomical education.

The department features a fully functional Dissection Hall, where cadaveric dissection remains the gold standard of anatomical learning. Each cadaver is treated with utmost dignity, and students gain practical insights into human structure that cannot be replicated by models or software alone. Additionally, we offer prosected specimens, high-resolution 3D visuals, and interactive anatomy models to complement hands-on learning.

Students are taught using a mix of lectures, small group discussions, demonstrations, and digital learning modules. Weekly quizzes, spotters, and viva sessions ensure continuous learning and self-assessment. The department also houses a Histology Lab, where students examine the microscopic structure of tissues and organs under expert guidance. Our advanced museum contains a wide collection of preserved specimens, models, embryology charts, and skeletal systems, enriching the student's visual and tactile understanding of anatomy.

The faculty comprises experienced anatomists, some of whom are involved in ongoing research in fields like clinical embryology, anatomical variations, and cross-sectional imaging. The department encourages student-led research projects, presentations, and participation in inter-college academic meets.

Special attention is given to clinical anatomy, correlating structural knowledge with surgical procedures and diagnostic imaging. Students also gain early exposure to radiological anatomy through X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans to foster a clinical mindset from the very beginning of their training.

Our goal is to shape students into well-informed future clinicians by making them comfortable with the human body’s form and function. The department promotes values of discipline, curiosity, precision, and ethics, which remain the cornerstone of a successful medical career.
